Who is our enemy in the war on terror?  Andrew C. McCarthy offers this description.  They are Islamic supremacists who believe in a totalitarian interpretation of Islam.  Al Qaeda terrorists create an atmosphere of intimidation that silences opponents.  Stealth jihadists advance their ideology by demanding concessions for Islam and by infiltrating the major institutions of society and influencing government policy.

9-11 Changed everything.  There is a sense that this is true for many Americans though many other Americans have forgotten or never learned the lessons of that day.  With the Muslim terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, I began to look at the connection between Islam and jihad and terrorism.

That investigation led to the study of Islamic, Sharia law.  I had never heard of Sharia law prior to 9-11, though I knew about some of the brutal practices of Islam.  I had some vague remembrance of courses in which I studied the Islamic military conquests.
